/ Recreation Guests sunning on our deck on the lake bank overlook the safe, sandy beach where children build sand castles and play in the water. Fishing boats come and go from May into October as people pursue what is still the single most popular activity of a Kabekona vacation, fishing for Walleyes and Northerns. From a platform at the end of the dock, children catch more perch than their parents care to take off the hook.
A sunny, pine-paneled lakeshore room in the lodge has shelves of table games and a thousand or so books for children and grownups. There are old books and new, from Beowulf to Virginia Woolf to Tom Wolfe. We are proud of the special shelf of books by writers who have visited Cry of the Loon. Our collection of movie videos is growing. Soft drinks and ice cream treats are available in this favorite rainy day hangout. |
Children and adults gravitate to our play areas: a croquet green with swings and slide and a childrens climber; nearby, a broad, grassy playing field, from which walking trails lead into the quiet woods. In winter they are sheltered cross-country ski trails, accessible from your cabin.
